Brooklin Pony Club
Pony Club was founded in Stoneleigh England in 1929 and is now a world-wide volunteer-run, non-profit organization. Canadian Pony Club is a national organization, with around 3,500 members from Prince Edward Island to British Columbia. The Pony Club is represented in 18 countries with a worldwide membership exceeding more than 110,450, making it the largest association of young riders in the world.
The Brooklin Pony Club of the Central Ontario Region has been in operation since 1999. Our branch is based in Brooklin Ontario and includes members from the Durham region. Our club is based at Springfield Stables.
Pony Club is for young people, between age 6 and 21, who want to learn more about horse and ponies. Pony Club has a series of rating level for both riding skills and horse management and our members work their way up the ratings while learning about horse care and inproving their riding skills.
The Pony Club motto is "Loyalty, Character, Sportsmanship", and we believe that we instil these values into our members.
The objectives of The Pony Club are:
- To encourage our members to ride and to learn to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with horses and riding.
- To give instruction in riding and stable management and to educate our members to look after and to take proper care of their animal.
- To promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship to create strength of character and self-discipline.
Our club meets several times a month and we provide our members with both riding and non-riding equine related activities. We have activities on several levels: the Branch, which is your local club, the COR (Central Ontario) Region, and National, which includes the whole country.
Brooklin’s official branch colours are Navy Blue with Royal blue and white.
